Clash Royale Minions Wiki—Three fast, unarmored flying attackers. Roses are red, minions are blue, they could fly, and definitely will crush you!”

Summary

  • The Minions are unlocked through the Bone Pit (Arena 2).
  • It spawns three single-target, short-ranged, flying Minions with low hit points and moderate damage.
  • The Minions card costs 3 Elixir to deploy.

The Minion’s appearance is the one about a bluish purple gargoyle with large horns, stubby wings and enormous hands with sharp vicious claws which are covered as to what appears to be Dark Elixir (only from Clash of Clans).

Strategy

  • The Minions may be used to support high hit points troops like Giants. They may also distract slow-targeting units such as the Inferno Tower.

Attacking Minions without any support can be simply destroyed because of their low hit points. Remember that Minions possess a high damage capability, and when they manage to get to a Crown Tower, they’ll deal massive harm to it.

When unsupported, Zap can counter it effectively. Fire Spirits may also counter this card due to splash damage. However, to achieve further positive elixir trade, kite them in to the kill zone using Skeletons or use Ice Spirit to freeze them.

  • Like the Minion Horde, Minions can destroy many small units such as the Bomber or Goblins without difficulty, and also have a significantly lower risk factor when compared to the Minion Horde, largely considering that the players are not ready to use their Arrows on Minions. (In fact, they could survive Arrows three levels lower.) The trade-off is that they have much less damage per second and may be unable to defeat certain threats quick enough.
  • The Minions (and Minion Horde) are incredibly good at destroying enemy Balloons, as the Balloon only targets buildings and it is vulnerable to the player’s defending troops.
  • They may also cause significant harm to larger units such as the Knight and often will require some assist in distracting them and doing additional damage.
  • Minions may also defeat the Graveyard because the Minions can attack spawned Skeletons quickly.

History

  • The Minions card was included with Clash Royale’s soft launch on 4/1/16.
  • On 3/5/16, the May 2016 Update fixed the “range bug” and decreased the Minions’ range to 2 (from 2.5) however their effective range is unchanged.

Trivia

  • The Minion Horde’s description describes 3 Minions like a crowd.
  • In Clash of Clans, the Minions possess a noticeably longer range than in Clash Royale.
  • In the outline, the “Roses are red, Minions are blue” line is through the classic love poem starting “Roses are red, Violets are blue”.
  • They seem to have an under bite.
  • The Minions in the card picture of the Minion are darker in skin color in comparison to the Minion Horde. Additionally they seem to be wearing indigo gloves, rather than pale reddish-purple gloves worn by the Minion Horde. Additionally they appear to have red/blue eyes in battle, rather than purple eyes on their card.
  • If you appear closely, the Minions’ “spit” appears to emerge from their fists, not their mouths.
  • This is confirmed by the Clash Royale trailers Trophies and Landscaper, in which the Minions seem to build up dark elixir using their hands and throw it at their enemies when the ball is very large enough.
  • But in Clash of Clans they spit Dark Elixir from their mouths.
  • They have a similar hit points as an Ice Spirit of equal level.
  • Minions will be the only non-skeleton related card that the player can unlock through the Bone Pit.
  • They had an exact Clash of Clans look in the trailer. The same goes for Valkyrie.
  • Their first counterpart unlocks at Arena 4. The much larger counterpart unlocks at Arena 7.
